The Hot Potato was born out of a love for baked potatoes and a spark of inspiration during a family visit. The idea started when David Webber and his wife were in college, frequently enjoying baked potatoes at a local place, with buffalo chicken being their favorite. About 10 years ago, while visiting their old college with their son, they realized there wasn’t a place in Dallas offering big gourmet baked potatoes. Combining David’s Caribbean roots and his wife’s Mexican flair, they created the concept for a baked potato food truck. Originally launched as a second source of income, the business grew rapidly, leading David and his wife to leave their careers and focus on the truck full-time. Now, The Hot Potato is a beloved food truck serving the Dallas Metroplex, known for its creative baked potato dishes, including their most popular item, the “Brisket Mac.”

Meet David

David Webber, owner of The Hot Potato Food Truck, was born and raised in Dallas, TX. He met his now-wife in the 9th grade and often jokes that once she laid eyes on him, she couldn’t turn back. Growing up, David worked in various restaurants during high school and college. After graduating, he managed restaurants, consulted, and eventually owned his own eatery, discovering that food service was his niche. David is committed to putting the Lord and family first in everything he does. He and his wife run their family-owned and operated food truck with a mission to bring smiles to people’s faces. For David, the key to success is simple: make food affordable, use quality ingredients, and provide excellent service.
